En 1976 Nile Rodgers founded with Bernard Edwards the CHIC Organization LTD. The Chic Organization quickly became the biggest hit factory since Motown. They wrote and produced a series of number ones including: Good Times and Le Freak for Chic; We Are Family for Sister Sledge; Upside Down and I'm Coming Out for Diana Ross; Spacer for Sheila & B.Devotion. CHIC recorded 8 albums and is among the most sampled artists in the world. The bass line of "Rapper's Delight" by Sugarhill Gang is none other than the "Good Times" by CHIC, the melody of "Lady" by Modjo is none other than the main riff of "Soup For One", Notorious BIG sampled "I'm Coming Out", Will Smith revisited "He's The Greatest Dancer" by Sister Sledge. The list is long, not to mention the groups that were heavily inspired by Bernard Edwards' bass lines. Queen with "Another One Bites The Dust". With the disappearance of Disco, Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards ended The Chic Organization LTD. However, they continued to produce many artists. In 1983, Nile Rodgers became the biggest pop producer of the 80s. He produced back to back "Let's Dance" by David Bowie and "Like A Virgin" by Madonna in 1984. From that moment on, the biggest artists would call on him for his talent as a producer and guitarist: Mick Jagger, INXS, Duran Duran, Eric Clapton, Claude Nougaro, Hall & Oates, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Mariah Carey, Maroon 5, Michael Jackson, Grace Jones. Despite the death of Bernard Edwards and Tony Thomson (drummer), CHIC still exists. Nile Rodgers actively tours with the new members of the group and will perform in France from October 8 to 24 (10 dates including the Zenith of Paris on October 11). Rhino France is pleased to present the first Boxset that gives access to the archives of The CHIC Organization LTD. Nile Rodgers himself supervised this box set; he chose the tracks, wrote the liner notes, participated in the development of the artwork. This 4CD box set is therefore the Grail that all fans were waiting for. On the program, the greatest hits of Chic, but also unreleased versions, outtakes, remixes (made by Dimitri From Paris). We also find the main productions of The CHIC ORGANIZATION.
