First album by Metallica, "Kill'Em All" constitutes a musical apocalypse. The album oscillates between allegory ("The Four Horsemen", "Jump In The Fire") and staging of the band and metal, as seen in "Whiplash", whose intro is all about an entrance on stage and which ends with the self-reference "Cause we are Metallica". This aesthetic work reveals the double theme of the album: the protest and the claim to belong to a (sub)cultural music scene.
