Description

"From island to island, Commander Coustou sails the Southern seas and probes the depths in search of buried musical treasures." In 2014, five musicians from the continent met on a peninsula between the Rhône and Saône to bring to life an imaginary sailor: Commander Coustou. Onboard, they discover the incredible musical melting pot of the Caribbean and initially delight in revisiting a repertoire of pre-war Trinidadian calypsos. The incredible abundance of Afro-Caribbean music nourishes this crew, which will soon set sail towards Cuban sound, Martinican biguine, or Haitian twoubadou. After 4 years of existence, a first album, and numerous concerts, the crew is heading towards new imaginary shores. An alchemical archipelago where, as in the Caribbean, influences blend into one another to create a new Caribbean horizon: original compositions.
