Parachutes

Description

Usually, we are very wary of followers, those bands that build success on the backs of their glorious predecessors. Coldplay clearly stands at the crossroads between Radiohead and Travis, two English bands with resounding success. But the mere fact that Coldplay can be compared to the aforementioned makes them worthy of the greatest attention. The dangerous tension that permeates each track of "Parachutes" and Chris Martin's beautiful voice, sometimes only supported by a few piano notes as in "Everything's Not Lost," is enough to stimulate the senses and curiosity. The immense single "Shiver," which brilliantly rides the same threatening crests as Jeff Buckley, should logically propel Coldplay to the top of the charts. Perhaps not revolutionary, but it’s a dive worth taking every time. Don’t forget your "Parachutes" when you jump.
