AN IMMERSIVE AND CHIMERICAL WORK. "Sudden Fruit" is a bold sonic exploration, a virgin territory that promises to resonate long in the minds of those who venture there. Based in Berlin, Japanese pianist Midori Hirano teams up with Russian electronic musician Ivan Pavlov alias CoH, close to the Coil galaxy, now settled in France after a long stay in Sweden. Always illustrated by a sumptuous visual by Francis Meslet, Sudden Fruit is a new piece of the exciting puzzle that the Mind Travels collection has been building for a few years now in the service of cross-genre music, allowing here to build a new bridge between the neoclassical fringe of its catalog and the experimental/ambient side of its territory. Opening with "Wave to Wave" perfectly embodies the subtle balance between organic and digital crafted by the duo. Never overwhelming, CoH's sound textures offer a surprising narrative power to the discourse, while the melodic sense of Midori Hirano, with her wide palette, plays with silences as in "Mirage Memories."
