Frigid Stars

Description

After the success of their first album Frigid Stars (1990), the trio Codeine, made up of Stephen Immerwahr, John Engle, and Chris Brokaw, locked themselves in the Harold Dessau Recording studio in June 1992 to record a second album of eight songs. A few days and some mysterious high frequencies later, the record was scrapped, set aside, and forgotten. Brokaw left the band shortly after, and these songs were reworked into various versions to become Codeine's final album. On the occasion of its 30th anniversary, Numero Group has unearthed these recordings and restored the original work to the band's exacting standards with producer Mike McMackin. A hidden masterpiece of slowcore right before our eyes.
