"AN EVENT IN JAZZ TRIO". Clover is a unique creation. A creation born from a long-standing friendship, intense collective experience, and a desire for pure music. After 20 years of close artistic and human collaboration, already clearly materialized through the creation of the Yolk label and numerous collective projects, the three companions Alban Darche, Sébastien Boisseau, and Jean-Louis Pommier are now realizing another long-deferred dream: to transform this trio of artistic directors, label founders, and project leaders into a true musical ensemble. In the mid-1990s, the two generations met: Jean-Louis Pommier already had a solid background, being one of the most sought-after trombonists by Patrice Caratini's Onzetet, Eddy Louiss' Multicolor Feeling, or La Bande à Badault, while Alban Darche and Sébastien Boisseau (both born in 1974) were completing their studies with JF Jenny-Clark, forming foundational groups (Triade, Kaput-K, Jazzophone, Le Cube...), and were both immediately recognized by their peers and awarded at the national La Défense competition. It was in 2000 that the three musicians embarked on this journey together. They were then living in three different cities: Tours, Le Mans, and Nantes. They created YOLK at a time when the nascent digital industry was aiming to signal the end of physical records. But together, they shared their own observations, undiminished energy, and a voracious appetite for music that combined the historical ingredients of jazz with its most current trends. They also recognized the crucial contribution of record labels to the evolution of the music they loved. Blue Note, Impulse, ECM, Label Bleu, JMT/Winter & Winter, to name but a few, represented major laboratories where the greatest researchers recorded their work. It was this adventure that attracted them. Clover marks its debut with a resolutely poetic program. Melodic pieces written like settings ready to receive that elusive object called poetry. Here, it is presented as a suspension of time, that time which music constantly multiplies, divides, and assembles to create meaningful forms.
