The Wriggle EP by the California hip-hop trio clipping., released digitally in 2016, is available on vinyl for the first time, featuring new artwork, previously unreleased remixes, and an exclusive track. The Wriggle EP consisted of six tracks that were not finished in time to be included in the group's debut album in 2014, CLPPNG. For the track "Shooter," clipping. recorded by firing fifteen different firearms, with the sounds exclusively forming the rhythm, complemented only by a sequence of synthesized notes. Its verses were constructed using the widely used hashtag rap technique (a metaphor, a pause, and a one-word punchline), but instead of using it to boast about the rapper's personal wealth and masculinity, clipping. offered vivid narratives of three violent encounters. True to much of the group's musical style, "Shooter" was an attempt to redefine a familiar style by testing its limits. "Hot Fuck No Love" might be the most explicit punchline to date from Cakes Da Killa, clipping.'s favorite rapper from New Jersey. The title track "Wriggle" was built around a sample from the famous electro track "Wriggle Like a Fucking Eel" by Whitehouse, transforming William Bennett's tortuous imperative into a massive banger. "Wriggle" and "Shooter" have become classics of clipping. and essential tracks in their concerts.
