Description

Doftvind - Sliter en gråtlåt ur mitt hår - Havsmorgon - Ordafärd - Sommarlängtan - Det regnar i min stad - I februari - Sonett om förgängligheten - Förbön - Summer wishes - Skimmerschal - Sommarsorg - När den egnaste dör - Bra så Saxophonist Christina von Bülow's album DET REGNAR I MIN STAD (It's raining in my town) is the culmination of decades of work and a testament to her deep connection to the Swedish culture that so fascinates and inspires her. Throughout a career spanning more than 30 years, she has been recognized with several Danish awards for her lyrical and melodic playing. In 2022, she became only the second non-Swedish musician to receive the Lars Gullin Prize, named after the Swedish jazz icon. At the award ceremony, presenters noted that Christina was influenced by Stan Getz and Lee Konitz, but to truly understand Christina's playing and inspiration, one must listen to Swedish trumpeter Jan Allan (born in 1934), whom she invited to play on her first album in 1994. His timbre captivated her, and, inspired, she wrote, among other things, the song Vise in Februar for him. Finnish-Swedish poet Åke Grandell heard this song and, in turn inspired, this time by the melody, he wrote lyrics for it. He then sent them to Christina, along with other poems and a proposal to set them to music. A few decades later, Vise in Februar would be one of the 14 songs on DET REGNAR I MIN STAD, all with lyrics by Åke Grandell and, with one exception, all in Swedish.
