Cindytalk is the expressionist outlet of Scottish artist Cinder, inspired by the cross-pollination of exploratory British post-punk and early European industrial music. Her work thrives on chance and transformation, collaging elements of noise, ballad, and soundtrack, always within the realm of catharsis and improvisation. Cindytalk's debut album, *Camouflage Heart*, released in 1984, is a fearless work that feels even more singular and prescient forty years after its release. The guttural, fierce sound marked a distinctly darker turn than the six years The Freeze had spent on the fringes of punk. Changing the project's name had become vital, not only because they kept hearing that the first one was already taken, but also because they wanted to embody spiritual and sonic change. *Camouflage Heart* plays with tension and rhythm, from creeping to feverish to claustrophobic.
