Chvrches (pronounced churches, "churches" in English) is a Scottish electro-pop band formed in 2011. Its members are Lauren Mayberry (vocals, synthesizers), Iain Cook (synthesizers, backing vocals) and Martin Doherty (synthesizers, backing vocals). The band released the EP Recover in 2013 after being named "one to watch for 2013" by the BBC. That same year, the songs "Gun" and "Recover" both received the Best New Music designation from the music magazine Pitchfork. This Glasgow trio produces delicate electro-pop that can remind you of The Knife, Kate Bush, or even Depeche Mode. Sensitive and energetic, Chvrches' music blends rock, rap, and electro, for your/our greater good.
