This is the case with the latest from Christophe Willem. 4 albums, recognition from critics and the public, sold-out tours, unique and unusual dates in magical places with his adventure "Les Nuits Paraît-il"... 11 years after his victory on "Nouvelle Star", Christophe Willem releases "Rio", an album that is in total alignment with who he is, what matters to him, and especially what he thinks. From the first listen of his single "Marlon Brando", Christophe sets the tone with a unifying, sunny, danceable, and fundamentally human track. He has decided to highlight, with the humility that is his own, the importance of trusting oneself and moving forward together, setting aside certain prejudices and even revising some of our certainties. Even if the majority of the tracks are co-written with the singer Igit, (discovered on the show "The Voice"), Christophe wanted to get involved, to commit, and to give the best of himself. The trigger happened previously with Fredrika Stahl on the album "Paraît-il". She made him aware of the importance of being the master of his own compositions... The path to his writing was inevitable and necessary. Yes, Christophe has changed, he has not aged but he has grown. His new songs prove it. Christophe did not hesitate for a second to leave a large part of himself in it, as we feel through the text "Madame", a tribute to a woman, a mother, who fights against daily violence and who must face the premature loss of one of her children, taken by a being filled with a hatred she has decided to combat with so much love. He also sings the words of Zazie on two tracks, including "Nos balles perdues" which addresses a tumultuous couple's life. Love with a capital A, the real, the only, the unique, the one that causes pain but also the one that makes us vibrate is found in "Rio". It is indeed the first track that Christophe wrote to start this album, so it is only natural that it became the album title. A starting point in a city that welcomed him to sing during last summer's Olympics, a city that also allowed him to find himself through a saving anonymity. For this 5th album, Christophe also surrounded himself with his partner Aurélien Mazin, with whom he composed and created each of the 12 songs. 12 stories that will either touch you ("Rio", "Seul avec toi", "Pilote", "Lou Ange"), blow you away ("Restart"), accompany you ("Madame", "Nos balles perdues"), make you dance and sway your body ("Copacabana", "Marlon Brando"), or make you love someone starting with yourself ("Vivement qu'on vive").
