The dreamer is the dream

For his third album on ECM, Chris Potter presents a brand new fully acoustic quartet that naturally combines qualities of melodic invention and rhythmic intensity. It features pianist David Virelles, bassist Joe Martin, and drummer Marcus Gilmore, all providing their creative support to the leader. 'The Dreamer Is the Dream' indeed allows us to hear him on tenor saxophone. In the swirling track 'Heart in Hand' or in the album's highlight 'Yasodhara,' but also on soprano saxophone in 'Memory and Desire' and on bass clarinet. In addition to his previous leader records for ECM, 'Imaginary Cities' and 'The Sirens,' Potter has participated in several label records such as the classic Paul Motian 'Lost in a Dream' and Dave Holland's 'What Goes Around,' which won a Grammy Award.
