After nearly 20 years of working as a trio and numerous cross-collaborations in different configurations, Ideologic Organ presents Placelessness, the first album by Chris Abrahams, Oren Ambarchi, and Robbie Avenaim, which includes two long-duration works at the intersection of ambient music, minimalism, experimentalism, improvisation, and machine music. Chris Abrahams, Oren Ambarchi, and Robbie Avenaim are among the most remarkable and innovative figures in the thriving Australian experimental music scene. With Chris on piano, Oren on guitar, and Robbie on drums, both sides of the album rely on each artist's constant dedication to long-form composition. Easily describable as a maximalist version of minimalism, Placelessness is a masterpiece of real-time contemporary composition. Drawing on decades of solo and collaborative practice from Chris Abrahams, Oren Ambarchi, and Robbie Avenaim, and the culmination of nearly twenty years of trio work, the two pieces – Placelessness I and Placelessness II – take shape with a stunning sense of effort and grace, not shying away from explicit beauty or rigorous tension within their forms.
