DISCOVER THE NEW SECRETLY CANADIAN SIGNING AND THEIR PUNCHY, ACIDULATED GARAGE PUNK SOUND
“They are among the best things happening in America today” IGGY POP
It is with great enthusiasm that CHERRY GLAZERR releases their album Apocalipstick. The band’s first album on Secretly Canadian was recorded at the legendary Sunset Sound studio in Hollywood with the renowned Joe Chiccarelli (The Strokes, My Morning Jacket, The White Stripes) and Carlos De La Garza (Bleached, M83, Paramore).
The band recently unveiled the video for the track “Nurse Ratched,” written by singer Clementine Creevy, inspired by the character Nurse Ratched in Ken Kesey’s masterpiece One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. The clip, a kind of slasher movie, was directed by horror film producer/director Roxanne Benjamin, known among other things for her films Southbound and V/H/S. The video features an innocent — albeit strange — hitchhiker, who turns out to be a psychopathic killer.
“Nurse Ratched” is the second single from Apocalipstick, following “Told You I’d Be With The Guys.” The album’s first single highlighted the problems of female solidarity and received praise from the New York Times and the Los Angeles Times, which called it “the best song from a band ready for something big.” Pitchfork awarded it the “Best New Track” prize, describing the song as “a huge step forward.”
CHERRY GLAZERR performed at Pitchfork Avant-Garde in Paris in October, proving to be one of the festival’s most striking bands, in front of an overexcited crowd.
The limited LP includes a colored vinyl pressing (pink splatter in the middle).
