Charlie Parker spent more time in Los Angeles than anywhere else, apart from Kansas City and New York. This 4LP box set reissue compiles rare recordings captured during three of the four trips Bird made to California in his all-too-brief life.
Among the crown jewels of this set are "How High the Moon" and "Fifty-Second Street." Also included are three previously unknown performances from a 1948 "Jazz at the Philharmonic" concert at the Shrine Auditorium. More intriguingly, the complete recordings of the infamous "naked party" from July 1952 at Jirayr Zorthian’s Altadena ranch.
