"Children Of Zu Zu" marks the return of Charles Petersohn after his previous album released 18 years ago, aside from a few experiments on Bandcamp and SoundCloud. On this EP, the sounds blend into one another, creating an organic flow. Smooth deep house, various types of jazz and jazznotjazz, African rhythms, Brazilian batucada, psychedelic funk poetry, inspired by Dr. John and especially the space music and afrofuturist philosophy of Sun Ra and his Arkestra. The soundscapes and background atmospheres of each song give the music a deeper dimension. It took time for the music to be ready. There was a desire to have pianist Roberto di Gioia from Web Web involved, which took months. But it was worth the wait. Roberto added some magical moments. On the other hand, Charles is highly critical of his own sound. If he steps back into the arena, it has to be something special. When he is satisfied with every inch of his sonic work, then it will be finished! "Children Of Zu Zu" has become a collage of dense, warm, and soft house music, spatial ambient jazz, and two dancefloor tracks with deep Afro and Brazilian influences.
