Sonates pour violon & piano

Description

Two great interpreters, poets, and lovers of the French repertoire and chamber music are brought together here: violinist Tedi Papavrami and pianist Nelson Goerner. They have chosen to dedicate this program of sonatas to the two works of Gabriel Fauré and that of César Franck. In 1875, Fauré composed his first sonata for violin and piano, characterized by its originality and form: the new French chamber music is born. In 1916, after having written throughout his life for small ensembles, he composed the second, imbued with inner lyricism and complexity. Nine years after the first sonata, Franck – less prolific in this intimate genre – composed his own sonata, one of the most performed works for violin and piano today.
