Cedar Walton was one of the most influential hard bop pianists and became well-known as a pianist for Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers. Bassist Ron Carter and drummer Jack DeJohnette both gained fame early in their careers for their associations with two different groups of Miles Davis. This 1984 jazz album is the only recording that these three jazz legends made together and was created on December 22 and 23, 1983. The album is also known as The All American Trio. Cedar Walton / Ron Carter / Jack DeJohnette features newly written liner notes by jazz journalist and historian Scott Yanow.
