The Canadian artist based in Italy, CECILIA (a.k.a. Mélissa Gagné), finally follows up her debut album Halcyon Veil from 2018 with a series of sublime "ego-free solo jams" that she sculpts into sensual moonlit rituals. Once again, CECILIA's powerful voice carries her second album. Singing, freestyling, and howling at the moon, CECILIA sheds all pretense on 'CHOEUR', channeling "the poetry of different lives that could have been hers or that might have only existed in dreams." It is an album inspired by classical French and Italian writing, yet it categorically refuses to take an easy path, blending its arrangement with dissociated and vaporous electronics and theatrical excesses.
