Terrasite

Description

Cattle Decapitation returns as an ode to the apocalypse with "Terrasite"! Although many bands have tried, no one articulates the real apocalypse that humanity is facing as vividly and succinctly as Cattle Decapitation. With "Death Atlas" in 2019, they reached the pinnacle of their art, which may have led some to think they couldn't go further, but they return today with "Terrasite," which is a statement as bold as any they have made so far. The album comes to life with the wild yet hauntingly melodic "Terrasitic Adaptation," progresses through the relentless "We Eat Our Young," and culminates with the more than ten minutes of "Just Another Body." It is an album that constantly shifts in dynamics and demands a variety of emotional responses. The title is a word invented by Ryan that combines "Terra-" meaning earth and "-site" derived from the Greek word "-sitos" meaning "food." The combination of the two means "earth eater," as a metaphor for humanity's role in the destruction of the planet, and is a play on the very fitting word "parasite." The artwork by Wes Benscoter, a long-time collaborator, brings all of this to life in striking ways.
