Cattle Decapitation returns with "Terrasite" as an ode to the apocalypse!
While many bands have tried, no one articulates the real apocalypse humanity faces as vividly and succinctly as Cattle Decapitation. With "Death Atlas" in 2019, they reached the pinnacle of their art, which might have led some to believe they couldn't go further, but they return today with "Terrasite," a statement as bold as any they've made so far. The album comes alive with the savage yet hauntingly melodic "Terrasitic Adaptation," progresses through the relentless "We Eat Our Young," and culminates with the over ten-minute "Just Another Body"; it's an album that constantly shifts dynamics and demands a variety of emotional responses. The title is a word invented by Ryan, combining "Terra-" meaning earth and "-site" derived from the Greek word "-sitos" meaning "food." The combination of the two means "earth-eater," as a metaphor for humanity's role in destroying the planet, and is a play on the very appropriate word "parasite." Long-time collaborator Wes Benscoter's artwork brings it all to life in striking fashion.
