In French song, there exists a small family of artists who come from the world of classical music. Catherine Lara is one of them, alongside William Sheller, Véronique Sanson, and Michel Polnareff. This artistic kinship is characterized, among other things, by a high level of musical demand applied to this 'minor art' dear to Serge Gainsbourg. After winning high-profile awards with her violin, Catherine Lara was convinced in 1971 by Denis Glaser (creator of Discorama, which would see many talents bloom) to embark on a singing career. Signed to CBS, Catherine would release 8 albums of very high artistic quality between 1972 and 1980. Only 3 of them were reissued on CD. Today, remastered in 24 bits at La Source Mastering from the analog tapes, these 8 albums allow us to rediscover the first part, rich and musically daring, of an exceptional career in French song. We follow Catherine Lara in her evolution from extremely worked compositions and arrangements under the influence of her classical training to a deliberately rock positioning on "Géronimo," passing through albums in the mid-70s more influenced by folk sounds. The sequel will be made of magical nights biting into diamonds while listening to romantics, under another label but with the same talent.
