Borrowing the raw, stripped-down character of delta blues, it builds a bridge between the music of Skip James and the indie rock of The Kills. The duo offers music without frills, with vintage accents but never dated, relying on songwriting, the emotion of the voice and the guitarist’s mojo. This powerful universe is fully conveyed by their cleverly offbeat visuals: sideburns, suspenders, doll dresses and stiletto heels. They are two but play like four: bass, broken-up drums, harmonica, washboard... and above all the burning guitars of Damien and Amandine’s powerful voice. The songs explore human relationships and the ambivalence of feelings, inhabited by a voice that is sometimes soft and melancholic, sometimes passionate and feverish.
