Dancin' And Prancin'

Description

As a man who brought the conga into the modern era with his innovative multipercussion setups and tunable congas, and as a former member of Dizzy Gillespie and Stan Kenton's bands, Cándido Camero Guerra a.k.a. Candido already had a long and rich career when he recorded Dancin' and Prancin' for the Salsoul label in 1979 at the age of 58. So, you might have been excused at the time for assuming it was just another case of an old pro trying to cash in on the disco craze, right? But you would have been very, very wrong... the record was pure genius, as Candido's infusion of Latin conga rhythms into the syncopated disco 4 x 4 beat proved irresistible, revolutionizing the sound of underground disco while pointing the way toward the upcoming house music. Indeed, "Jingo" (an unstoppable version of Olatunji's classic) and "Thousand Finger Man" are still DJ favorites. Speaking of DJs, we are releasing this one on black vinyl, perfect for queuing up and spinning. A must for any dance music library!
