Meeting in Sergio Mendoza's home studio in Tucson, Arizona, the band recorded throughout the summer of 2021, creating one of their most fascinating and whimsical productions to date. The duo channeled their memories of Southwestern landscapes and joyful melting pots of barrios into an evocative love letter to the desert borders that have nourished them for over 20 years. CALEXICO invites Gaby Moreno and Spanish rocker Jairo Zavala who brings his touch of bravado to "Cumbia Peninsula." Calexico also highlights the unique social and linguistic intersections at the border between the United States and Mexico and the beautiful possibilities of a world without borders.
