Craft Latino exhumes this rare gem of Latin funk and soul from the Fania archives, offering us a remastered 50th-anniversary reissue of the album Café.
Legendary master percussionist and bandleader Ray Barretto produced Café, the sole album by the New York-based rock, funk, and soul group of the same name, released on Fania's Vaya Records subsidiary in 1974. The album features songs in both English and Spanish, such as the opening track "Sí Dame Tu Amor," with funk grooves echoing through the arrangements—and sounding like something Barretto himself might have released. "Identify Yourself" is a real hit.
