Description

The growth process has been steady, and it took a long time for the artist known as producer/keyboardist/DJ under the name Buscrates to arrive at this second album, and every minute of this process can be heard and felt in these ten funky and highly evocative tracks. The finely balanced blend of vintage 80s synths and 90s boom bap, all wrapped in a good dose of melodic sensibility, never falters throughout the album. The sonic journey of the album culminates with "On My Way," the only vocal track on the album, featuring the beautiful voice of Soraya Watti. Soraya's smooth and soulful tones prove to be the perfect complement, acting as a sort of sexy ghost in the Buscrates machine. The album as a whole resembles an updated postmodern version of the kind of elegant and funky grooves that escaped from the 8-track player of a Cadillac around 1972. It's stylish, sexy, and very, very funky. Jazzy Jeff, François K, Dâm Funk, Rich Medina, and Spinna are among its most well-known fans and supporters.
