Music Evolution is the second and final album of the jazz/hip-hop/R&B fusion project Buckshot LeFonque. Led by none other than jazz saxophonist Branford Marsalis, the project was named after Buckshot La Funke, a pseudonym once used by alto saxophone legend Cannonball Adderley for contractual reasons. The album reached number 8 on the Billboard Top Contemporary Jazz Albums chart and features guest performances from rapper Guru, Matrix actor Laurence Fishburne, and highly regarded session musician David Sanborn. While his brother Wynton has conservative views on jazz, his brother is quite the opposite; here, he is seen effortlessly embracing and merging hip-hop, R&B, and rock into a sound explosion infused with the joy of playing, to paraphrase People magazine. The track "Another Day" reached number 65 on the UK singles chart in December 1997.
