Description

Brigitte Bardot's musical career began after signing with the Phillips label in 1962, although her film debut dated back to 1952. The icon's first album, released in 1963 and simply titled Brigitte, is an immersion into the carefree France of the sixties; with a style suited to the growing popularity of the twist dance among teenage audiences. Her mischievous, slightly off-key voice has a crazy charm and gives a unique modernity to these tracks written specifically for her by the cream of songwriters (and orchestrated by Claude Bolling). Serge Gainsbourg offered her the amusing "L’Appareil à sous," Jean-Max Rivière and Gérard Bourgeois the inimitable "C’est rigolo," and of course, there is "La Madrague" (her house in Saint-Tropez) crafted by the aforementioned duo, a little masterpiece that will stick with her.
