Le Branford Marsalis Quartet announces the release of its new album - The Secret Between the Shadow and the Soul - on March 1 via OKeh and Marsalis Music. The quartet, led for three decades by legendary saxophonist Branford Marsalis, has always been a model of uncompromising and bold art, with a deep collective identity and ever-expanding musical horizons. The Secret Between the Shadow and the Soul sees the group reaching new heights, responding to a multitude of moods with a unique inspiration and group cohesion. As usual, we find compositions from the quartet's veterans, with Eric Revis providing the striking "Dance of the Evil Toys" or the more tender yet equally dynamic "Nilaste," while Joey Calderazzo showcases his virtuosity with "Cianna" and "Conversation Among the Ruins." In addition to the track "Life Filtering from the Water Flowers," composed by Marsalis and featuring one of his deepest and most nuanced saxophone solos, the album includes two jazz gems from the seventies, more demanding: "Snake Hips Waltz" by Andrew Hill and "The Windup" by Keith Jarrett.
