Born At Midnite is the fake "ego" project created by Amery Sandford and David Carriere. Formed in Montreal at the end of 2018, the duo composes in a post-party logic: each track is finished – or abandoned – in a single evening. Between samplers, tape recorders, and improvisation, they craft a strangely familiar atmosphere, captured through a deliberately raw and fragile aesthetic. The project plays with the codes of our narcissism- and self-indulgence-saturated era, while also mocking them. The result presents itself as a form of unsponsored product-placement-punk, where humor and self-deprecation intertwine with spontaneous creative energy. Amery Sandford, a visual artist and pop singer, recently released her first solo album Amery – Continue As Amery. David Carriere is a producer, songwriter, and guitarist for the bands TOPS and Marci, continuing here a collaboration that reveals a freer and more experimental side of his work.
