The first official release by the quirky improvising duo Pierre Borel and Joel Grip, The Great European Stool Sample is a talkative composition of constraints. The duo plays with precision, isolation, and possibilities for communication on multiple levels. This production makes you want to keep playing and to bring the unsuspected to life t h r o u g h a n o b j e c t a l r e a d y c o m p o s e d - the recording. Herr Borelgrip is in itself a spiritual contradiction projecting sonic, textual, and rhythmic ideas as if they were together, simultaneously, as if they were alone. The music of Pierre Borel and Joel Grip began to take shape in the triangle drawn between Stockholm, Berlin and Paris in 2008. They have never stopped developing their music on stage in front of an audience, inevitably leaving traces of confidence and failures. The Great European Stool Sample is a studio recording, but plays with the idea that it is the continuation of an active event in which you, as the listener, can mix and change what you hear. It includes texts in Swedish by poet Pär Thörn and in French by musician Jean-Luc Guionnet. All composed in a double vinyl and a 16-page booklet.
