It took the posthumous publication of the box set (prefaced by Brassens, in 1976) that brought together all of his recordings for Boby Lapointe to finally gain a notoriety that has never waned since. One never tires of listening again to Boby's songs: it is all the more enjoyable and even necessary as the richness of his wordplay and puns create such a verbal ping-pong that one sometimes wonders where the ball is. An atypical singer, his perfectly mastered delusions first delighted those who were able to applaud him on stage (particularly at the Cheval d'or, as the opening act for Brassens...). We continue to laugh a lot while listening to Boby, but he also knows how to move us (Petit homme qui vit d'espoir, La maman des poissons...). In a word, he does us good.
