Bobby Montez, a pioneer of West Coast Latin jazz in the 1950s and 60s, emerged with a style similar to that of Cal Tjader. Coming from a musical family, he explored various instruments, including the vibraphone, before forming his own band. After signing with Jubilee Records, he released his album Viva!, which is presented today in its entirety.
