Interludes After Midnight

Description

In the two years since the release of his critically acclaimed album “The Music Scene,” BLOCKHEAD (aka TONY SIMON) has traveled the globe and is now back with a new collection of eclectic sounds ready to invade the psyche of those who listen to it. The name of his latest opus comes from a public access television show broadcast in New York during the 80s until the early 90s. At that time, there were no cell phones, TiVo, or internet. It is these simpler times that contributed to the album's soundscape. This is not about revisiting 20 years of popular hip-hop, but rather BLOCKHEAD's ultimate homage to the era and places that defined his upbringing. This is a pre-digital roadmap through BLOCKHEAD's musical consciousness, a virtual guided tour of a decidedly real society, when the airwaves were reserved for television, phones were for calling, and newspapers were printed. Thus, “Interludes After Midnight” is populated with dusty synth samples that beep, sweet horn samples seamlessly blended with funky percussion, and a sound you will listen to until the very end: Pure BLOCKHEAD.
