Launched about twenty years ago in Portland, Oregon, Blitzen Trapper gained international recognition with Furr in 2008, which cemented their status at the forefront of the modern indie folk revival. Rolling Stone praised the band's "hazy, psychedelic Americana," while NPR lauded their "explosive live performances and contagious roots-rock swagger." Dates with Fleet Foxes, Wilco, and Dawes followed, along with appearances at festivals like Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, Newport Folk, and Coachella, among others. The band then released six more equally acclaimed studio albums, culminating in 2020 with Holy Smokes Future Jokes, which Mojo proclaimed "sounded like the Beatles at Big Pink."
