BLAENAVON, the young English band, is releasing their first album, That's Your Lot on Transgressive. The story of BLAENAVON's first album is relatively simple: three teenagers who participate in a talent contest at their school, who then publish their songs online, literally stumble during their first concerts, but still manage to build a devoted fanbase and receive critical acclaim. BLAENAVON is a band that, after 6 years of existence and the tumultuous jungle of studies and exams, EPs and record label solicitations, finally delivers a first album, sumptuous, thrilling, and courageous. The lyrics deal with self-doubt, desire, romantic indecision, the simple purity of platonic love but also hedonism, surrender, and greatness. Ben Gregory, the singing guitarist, is a remarkable lyrical talent while Frank Wright and Harris McMillan provide the backbone of BLAENAVON on bass and drums: an ambitious and often majestic sound. To successfully complete their first album, the band set themselves a real work ethic by multiplying rehearsals and worked with producer Jim Abbiss (Arctic Monkeys, Adele, Bombay Bicycle Club).
