Based in Kentucky, Chris Robertson (vocals/guitar), Ben Wells (guitar), and John-Fred Young (drums) recorded an album for the first time with their "new" bassist, Steve Jewell Jr. (ex-Otis), who joined in 2021.
A record about which they have a lot to say: "We had a lot to say in terms of lyrics, music, and sound. We strived to create not only something relevant but also to push our limits. We are particularly proud of these compositions."
The majority of the songs on "Screamin' At The Sky" were written during the tour, and when it came time to record, the quartet decided to try something they had always dreamed of: recording an album at the Plaza Theater in Glasgow, Kentucky - a legendary 1,020-seat venue built in 1934 with a very particular acoustic. In June 2022, the band rented this theater and brought all their recording equipment along with their faithful sound engineer, Jordan Westfall. The time spent on these recording sessions and the incredible atmosphere of the place allowed BSC to reach one of the peaks of their career. And you can hear it!
Over its 20-year career, Black Stone Cherry has gone from clubs to headlining concerts in 12,000-seat venues. The band has shared the stage with Def Leppard, Alice Cooper, Mötorhead, Halestorm, ZZ Top, and Guns N' Roses, with whom they played in front of 100,000 people at the Download Festival in 2018!
