Nothing is ever easy for Black Spiders, never simple; there is always a plethora of circumstances, bad luck, and karma. Their latest album, released in 2023, was titled "Can't Die, Won't Die," and here we are on the brink of 2025, and they are still not dead. Back with a brand new album of high-octane smashers, the virtuous rockers from Sheffield are set to release their new album 'Cvrses' on February 28 via Dark Riders through Cargo Distribution. With twelve new tracks of the kind of rock 'n roll action we all expect, love, and demand from Black Spiders, their intentions are the same today as they were from the very beginning in 2008: stay true to yourself, without compromise. "Stick to that formula and everything will be fine, that's what we hope, and hopefully, life might surprise you," says guitarist Pete Spiby. "This is our fifth album, from my perspective and Irwin's. It's our best. Our statement of intent hasn't changed since day one. Recorded once again at Axis Studios in Doncaster with producer Matt Ellis at the helm, 'Cvrses' is, and of course all bands say this, very likely their best album to date. It successfully distills everything exciting and affirming about Black Spiders' unique brand of hard-hitting heaviness. Massive riffs, massive hooks, massive beats. Everything is huge. The opening track "Never Enough" is the best statement of intent you can find, with three sharp hits on the snare from drummer Wyatt Wendels, before a garage rock riff gives the album immediate action. "'Never Enough' is the origin of the initial idea for the album title 'Cvrses'," explains Pete. "It's the reality of how you can be relentless in the pursuit of something, but once you crest that hill, there's another hill in the distance. More obstacles in life. So, everything is always out of reach, but the positive side of that is that you are always striving, you are living. And from that moment on, 'Cvrses' takes you through a rollercoaster of rock emotions, from the clapping ramalama of 'Cool Reaper' to the fiery ballad of 'Dia De Muertos,' it's all there, totally intact and in your face, exactly where real rock should be. And why is the album called 'Cvrses'? Well, 'Cvrses' has two meanings; on one hand, it's a supernatural punishment invoked to do harm, and it's also a very old English curse. Both meanings ring true in every sense when it comes to Black Spiders. "As long as this record is in the tank, we will keep going, because that's what we have to do," Pete and Cvrses sum up to anyone trying to stop them.
