Black Roots, the Bristol (UK) band, continues, after more than 35 years of existence, to deliver roots reggae with rock and committed aspirations. Since the beginning of their career in 1979, they have been committed to a certain independence, both in expression and operation. Their first album, *Black Roots* (1983), was produced and pressed thanks to concerts the band organized through their own label, Nubian Records. These musician friends, who met on the streets of Bristol and all originally hailed from the small island of Jamaica, quickly became a staple of English reggae. Their music draws inspiration from the origins of roots, a refined and deep sound. Their lyrics, always engaged, denounce their country's politics, as well as the functioning of economic and social life worldwide.
