The meaning of this mysterious title can be found in the Cabbala where 8 is synonymous with prosperity, abundance, authority, mastery, spiritual and cosmic consciousness, and infinity. The number 8 is also very symbolic for the Chinese, with the Olympic Games starting on 08/08/08 at 8 hours, 8 minutes, and 8 seconds. For BERNARD FEVRE, "If 7 corresponds to paradise, 8 represents its gates." Let's return to the album, which is rather concise (6 tracks) and all bear BLACK DEVIL's signature while being more intricate, bizarre, and even unsettling. If "28 AFTER" represented GIORGIO MORODER jamming with JOY DIVISION, "EIGHT OH EIGHT" is the encounter of SALVADOR DALI with CERRONE (in his early days, of course). Maxis will be released from the album with remixes by Paul Woolford, Radio Slave & Hercules and Love Affair.
