Bad Bunch marks the grand return of Black Bananas, more than ten years after Electric Brick Wall (2014). The American trio, composed of Jennifer Herrema, Brian McKinley, and Kurt Midness, continues its exploration of a unique musical universe where alternative rock, funk, electronic, improvisation, and hip-hop influences intersect. A major figure of the underground scene since the late 1980s with Royal Trux, RTX, and then Black Bananas, Jennifer Herrema reunites here with her long-time collaborators for an album developed over more than ten years, between the reformation of Royal Trux and the pandemic period. Recorded with a largely improvised approach, Bad Bunch develops a psychedelic, jazzy, and experimental groove while remaining true to the band's identity. Long praised by the specialized press and admired by many artists, Black Bananas confirms with this record its status as a cult formation, still as inventive and unclassifiable.
