Songs For Distingué Lovers

Description

The first popular jazz singer to stir audiences with the intense and personal feeling of classic blues, Billie Holiday (1915-1959) changed the art of American pop singing forever. *Songs for Distinguished Lovers* is one of the best albums of her late career and finds her surrounded by important instrumentalists such as Ben Webster and Harry “Sweets” Edison. The album received a four-star rating in Down Beat upon its release, with John A. Tynan stating that “Miss Holiday has a unique style, still incomparable”.
