Billie Holiday

Songs For Distingue Lovers

Description

This 1957 album produced by Norman Granz may seem like a routine exercise, but it is nevertheless one of the singer’s best. The aim was clearly to confront “Lady Day” with the great American songbook, that of Cole Porter and Gershwin. Billie Holiday rises to the challenge like an aristocrat who has nothing left to prove, accompanied notably by Ben Webster.
