It's not every day you record alone in a church at 3 AM. I'm not a religious person, but that night, I experienced something unique: it was as if the music was guiding me, not the other way around. Lumen was born from a blend of meticulously composed pieces and free improvisations, captured in the moment. It's in this in-between space that the magic happens – if you allow yourself to be carried away. I recorded on a Yamaha grand piano and a muted upright piano, day and night, in true solitary retreat. The more I played, the more the music drew me in. Today, I seek simplicity: to say the most with the least. As a solo artist, freedom is absolute, but it also entails greater responsibility. Each concert becomes unique, shaped by the instrument, the venue, the acoustics, the moment. Lumen is just a starting point. Its true life begins now, with every new listen. - Bill Laurence
