Description

The Stadtgarten in Cologne was already completely sold out the day before the concert. A large-scale concert was scheduled there, Bill Evans, the saxophonist not the pianist, and the WDR Big Band Cologne in full force with a few guests such as Franco-Senegalese Etienne Mbappé, the musician not the footballer. The audience arrived in large numbers well before the start time. The temperature rose very quickly and the atmosphere became increasingly heated. Evans has always loved this kind of atmosphere, when the audience is boiling hot even before the concert begins and the musicians, immersed in their concentration, are stretched to the limit. Bill Evans then reaches peaks of musicality carried by this unique fusion. That is what happened on the evening of February 17, 2011. An unforgettable date, finally documented on record and on vinyl.
