Notes from New York

Description

Considered in New York as one of the greatest interpreters of melodies, jazz pianist Bill Charlap, recently crowned at the 2016 Grammy Awards, returns once again in trio with Peter Washington (double bass) and Kenny Washington (drums). They present Notes From New York: 9 tracks blending standards and rarely played melodies, on a jazz rooted in the 1940s-1960s. Before forming his trio in 1997, Charlap collaborated with the greatest, including Gerry Mulligan, Benny Carter and Tony Bennett. He was also part of Phil Woods’s quintet in 1995. United by the number of years and aligned in terms of musical aspirations, the trio is today one of the most seasoned there is, perfectly suited to the pianist’s ambitions.
