Certain artistic collaborations are both unexpected and their fruits often remain unknown. This was almost the case with the meeting between Biggie Tembo, former leader of the Bhundu Boys, and the sound sculptors of Startled Insects, in Bristol and Zimbabwe. The experience that would give birth to the tracks of the album "House of Stone" came to life after Biggie and the group left their respective formations and labels, seeking a new creative path. A brilliant idea brought the four artists together: Biggie moved his family from Harare to Bristol to live with one of them, work began at the Insects studio, and nine songs were recorded. After that, nothing more. The eight tracks of this vinyl take the listener on a journey between the savannas and the urban excitement of Southern Africa, driven by the power and virtuosity of drum and bass typical of the west of England's capital. A sharp musicality permeates each multifaceted track. These recordings benefit from the contribution of some of the most talented local musicians. Will Gregory is notably known for his work with Tears for Fears, and longer for his involvement with the phenomenon group Goldfrapp. Rob Merrill has collaborated with Massive Attack and Roni Size & Reprazent.
