A few months after the release of the excellent U.F.O.F., the American quartet is back with Two Hands, their second album this year for Big Thief. Once again, the band produces beautiful indie music, somewhere between folk and rock, with poetic lyrics, oscillating between pain and sweetness. Formed in 2015, Big Thief consists of Adrienne Lenker on vocals, Buck Meek on guitar, Max Oleartchick on bass, and James Krivchenia on drums. Upon signing with 4AD, Adrianne Lenker explained that they had enough demos for two albums; the first, U.F.O.F., would be 'celestial,' and the second, Two Hands, would be 'gritty,' less polished, recorded under live conditions. This is how the band headed to Sonic Ranch, located in the Texan town of Tornillo on the banks of the Rio Grande, to record this masterful new album.
